Smokin' Phizzy !
by Phizzy inas a jw teenager in the 60's i took up smoking.
i gave up in my early 20's when my new wife and i decided , mistakenly, that it was a good idea to " make a proper go of da troof".
in all the intervening decades i still enjoyed the smell of a fine cigar.. when i left and became free, i took up smoking again, always fine cigars, and ended up hooked, and smoking ten or more a day.

Never smoked and never wanted too.....well that is not quite true.
On a couple of company golf tournaments the guys I was playing with would light up a cigar and after taking a drag they would place the cigar on the green and make their putt with that wonderful pungent smoke swirling around them. I thought....how cool. Yet I knew that I would never be able to do something like that...
Fast forward a few years, when the shit hit the fan and my kids (who were 21 and 23 at the time) and me left the Borg, all the old rules got thrown out. One of the first things my kids did was smoke. Not so much that I think they liked it. It was more the big F.... You to the religion and it's rules. After years of the restrictive life style they wanted to experience life in all it's forms.... the good and bad. I could no longer could command them with the many "Do's and Don'ts" that we were both raised with.
I'm very proud of my children and how the turned out. Yes, they experienced somethings that may have not been in their best interest. Yet, isn't that what life is all about? Finding what works for you and what doesn't? They are their own persons.
Sadly they both still smoke. Yes they both want to quit. Yet, it's their lives and their decision. Hopefully they make the right one.
Life is full of choices and the ones we make for ourselves will always better than those that a religion makes for us.
P.S Once every couple of weeks I will enjoy a cigar. No they are not good for you but either is being in a cult.

What’s Your Prediction For The Future Of The Covid Virus?
by minimus inwill it ever end??
will a vaccine end this pandemic?
will it suddenly dissipate if joe biden becomes president?

It will mutate again and become even more contagious and deadly thus killing off most of the world's population. The witnesses, those that are still left will believe that Armageddon has finally truly hit. However since they too will continue to grow old and die....this proves not to be the case. Civilization continues to break down and the world looks like something out of "Mad Max"
The good news, the planet can finally heal for it will take a couple thousand of years for man to to come back from his primitive state....plenty of time to form new religions. Religions that will make prophecies about the "the end of the world" coming.....
Well you asked...

The funny thing is The Unity Church of Sedona bought it. I like the unity people, they believe in loving everyone no matter what. Whatever you want to believe is fine by them.
Is the planet changing? Maybe becoming more tolerant?
With the old staunch "our way or the Highway" churches going away and the "we love everyone" churches becoming more popular?
Who knows...

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Outcast Doctrines
by Socrateswannabe inin a recent post about the watchtower’s claim that all animals were created as vegetarians, one commenter said that watchtower could no longer sustain this belief so they simply stopped talking about it.
i began thinking about other wacky doctrines and statements by the borg that have faded away.
i’ll offer two of them below, but the complete list must be longer than your arm.. 7000 year-long creative days: watchtower once taught that each of the creative days was 7,000 years in duration, hence the hype leading up to 1975. they believed that year marked 6,000 years since adam’s creation, and oh how nicely the 1,000-year reign would fit as the last piece of the puzzle, thus completing the final “day”.

How about how you could have association with people that left the organization before 1950. Then for 24 years you had to shunn them. Then from 1974 to 1980 you could have "limited" association with them and now from 1980, you have to shunn them again!
The Light gets brighter then it got dim then it got brighter then it got dim again.....
I guess their god gets very confused one this very important matter. A matter that has caused the death and heartache of thousands.
Or maybe there is no god just a bunch of crazy old men in New York, dreaming all this shit up.
